2026 Scholarship Application

On behalf of the Executive Board for the Afro-American Police Officer League (AAPOL) and the 2026 AAPOL Scholarship Committee, I would like to congratulate you for all the hard work you put into your high school career.

Whether you were a student athlete, student council member, or enjoyed supporting your classmates, you have been an important figure who has made an impact in your campus community.

We have added a cover letter requirement for each applicant. Please tell us about yourself!

Where did you grow up? What clubs or activities did you participate in? What college/university do you plan to attend? What is your intended major?

We wish you the best in all your future endeavors. The scholarship awards reception will be announced to selected recipients on a later date.

Deadline

2025 AAPOL scholarship application packets must be complete and submitted by Friday, March 30, 2026 at 5:00PM to be considered for review.

An applicant’s packet will NOT be considered complete if it is missing any section of the application is missing, including: AAPOL 2026 Scholarship Acknowledgment, AAPOL Scholarship Application, current unofficial school transcripts, cover letter, and Essay submission.
NO LATE SUBMISSIONS OR PARTIAL PACKETS WILL BE ACCEPTED.


Submission Guidelines

  • 2026 AAPOL Scholarship Essay must be no less than 400-word count and no more than 500-word count. PLAGIARISM WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND WILL BE AN AUTOMATIC DISQUALIFICATION. NO EXCEPTIONS.

  • 2026 AAPOL Scholarship Essay body must be in the following format:

    • Single spaced

    • Size 12 font

    • Calibri (body) or Times New Roman font

  • 2026 AAPOL Scholarship Essay document must be in the following format:

    • Typed in Microsoft Word, Must also be submitted as a Word attachment. NO GOOGLE DOCS, PDF FILES, OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF FORMAT

    • 1” margins

    • Left alignment

    • Essay title

      • Center at the top of the page size 18 bold *does not count towards final word count

    • Footer containing

      • Page numbers right aligned

      • First and last name left aligned

  • The applicant’s essay will be graded on grammar/ punctuation, word count, and content. In the area of content, the applicant’s essay will be graded on whether the applicant answered all parts of the scholarship question and whether the applicants essay content is relevant, clear, precise, and thoughtful. Whether or not the applicant followed formatting guidelines will also be considered for scoring and/or acceptance of essay.

  • In the event, the applicant needs to resubmit their packet, PRIOR TO the deadline stated, the applicant MUST submit an ENTIRE packet. Partial submitted packets will NOT be matched up with multiple submission emails to make a complete packet submission.

  • Completed or partial packets submitted not following all guidelines and requirements will not be considered for grading.

  • Applicants chosen to receive a scholarship that cannot be reached or do not respond to the AAPOL Scholarship Committee attempted contacts within 48 hrs. will be bypassed.

  • AAPOL has the right to reserve a set number of scholarships for children/dependents of current AAPOL members. The set amount is determined by the AAPOL Scholarship Committee.
